The Warburton Special Edition Tenor Saxophone started out as an informal discussion between Eric Falcon (our in-house saxophone gearhead) and our good friends Mike Crouch and Greg Wilson over at MacSax (designers, importers, and distributors of top quality saxophones). Eric was telling Mike and Greg about the compromises working players had to make when choosing a horn. You could have a vintage horn with a fantastic tone and bad action or a new horn with great action but a tone lacking richness and complexity or even yet a horn with great projection but with no character to the sound. They all agreed. So Eric, Mike, and Greg set out to design a Tenor Sax with no compromises. The obvious next question was: "Can we actually get this thing built by a top quality manufacturer?" Mike sent the wish list to his manufacturing team and they added their expertise on how to make it happen - including using the same special brass alloy we're using for our Ultimate Sax Neck for the entire horn. 
With the specifications set, the day finally came when we found out this dream could become reality. Production began and a couple months later the first batch of finished horns was IN OUR HANDS! Eric was floored when he finally played the first production horn. The end result was even better than expected. The horn has a rich and complex tone, the projection and resonance are huge, and the key layout is instantly comfortable; a no compromises kind of instrument. A truly unique design loaded with a combination of features and specifications that combine the best from the past and present with the advantages of cutting edge technology such as the Warburton Ultimate Sax Neck system was all rolled into this one saxophone. We feel this is the most resonant and ergonomically pleasing tenor sax anywhere. We are very pleased to bring this joint effort between MacSax and Warburton to the worldwide marketplace!
